Rebecca Brenner is a former child prodigy and virtuoso violinist. She happens to have the rare auditory ability of absolute pitch or perfect pitch.
Her solo violin career includes appearances with The TSO, The Toronto Philharmonia, The National Academy Orchestra, The McGill Chamber Orchestra, The Huronia Symphony Orchestra, The Windsor Symphony Orchestra, and more.
Rebecca has also enjoyed playing music in, a ukulele ensemble, a keltic fiddle group, a kpanlogo drum circle, a spontaneous musical quintet, the Ontario Philharmonic, and much much more.
She has studied and performed as a pianist, violist, conductor, and choral singer.
As well, Rebecca is an established ballet dancer making her stage debut at the age of 6 with the Canadian Opera Company.
She has performed in many forms of dance such as, ballet as mentioned, classical Spanish, capoeira, jazz, baroque, swing, contemporary, to name a few.
Rebecca has experience counselling in many settings including, as a phone councillor for the distress centre and TTC crisis link, with seniors at the Kensington Gardens Health Centre, as a personal support worker, as a mentor in the Research Opportunity program at UofT, as a choir facilitator at Surrey Place Centre for developmentally disabled adults, and others.
She has her Honours BSc in psychology from UofT where she was invited to do research on topics such as personality and emotions, role models and relationships, dynamic person perception, and more.
She has a Masters of Education from OISE at UofT where she was one of only a handful of people to receive a research scholarship where she chose the research topic of literature for personal growth. In this Masters program she was also the head editor as well as a contributor for an anthology of short stories in expressive writing.
Rebecca spent a summer studying expressive arts therapy at the European Graduate School in Switzerland.
She has taught violin, dance, high school humanities, and more.
She is an award winning actor and has been an active in the Canadian film industry since the age of 6, starring in many film and animation productions. She’s best recognized for her work in children’s animation including, Rolie Polie Olie, Miss Spider’s Sunny Patch Friends, Care Bears the Movie, Captain Flamingo, The ZhuZhus, and more… She’s least recognized as the voice of ‘Good’ Chucky in the Bride of Chucky.
Rebecca is also a visual artist and painter.
In her spare time, she enjoys yoga, walking, gardening, cooking, and spending time with her two cats, Donald and Rita, and two dogs, Eugene and Cary. And, while doing any of the above, it wouldn’t be the same without her husband, Ben, and her daughter, Sylvi.
